William James Veall

William James Veall was educated at the Queen Mary Grammar School, Basingstoke, UK. Studied engineeering at the Basingstoke and Southampton Colleges of Technology, and read Environmental Science, Archaeology and Spanish at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.

William's primary subject became Archaeoastronomy; a subject which involves many cross-disciplines like Archaeology, Anthropology and Ethnography, but his chosen path was to understand the relationships between ancient  architecture and astronomy, especially relative to the earliest Cultures resident in the Andean Highlands and Coastal Lowlands of Southern Peru.

He also  found it vital to utilise in his research programmes the relatively new technique of remote sensing aerial photography, further supprted by orthographic photo generation, Digital Elevation Modelling and 3d terrain and ground based imagery reconstruction.

An ever increasing portfolio of petroglyphic and pictographic inscriptional material has added another new dimension to William's cross- discipline attributes: ancient epigraphy. From Egyptian heiroglyphs, to proto-Sinaitic and its early and latter Phoenician alphabetic variants, from old Hebrew, Samaritan to Aramaic - just to name a few ancient alphabets.

On the practical side, as an ex-scientific engineer, William Veall is currently involved in the design and development of an Aerial Camera Platform specifically designed and developed for student use over inaccessable desert or high altitude remote mountainous terrain.

Wiiliam has an extensive web presence. As an Author  he has published his first book, "Portraits of the Gods", also broadcast with acclaim on a California Talk Radio show.

William James Veall is also Director of Nascodex and Consultant to Nascodex Publications,  Catalunya, (Spain).
